You Don’t Have to Feel Ready to Move Forward

Think about an area of your life where you’d like to feel more confident. What would greater confidence allow you to do? And what difference would that make in your life?

Here’s the truth about confidence: Confidence is not the absence of fear. We sometimes think confident people don’t feel afraid, nervous, uncertain, or even experience self-doubt. But they do. The difference is that they don’t allow those feelings to stop them from moving forward.

You can be nervous and still speak up. You can feel uncertain and still make a decision. You can be afraid and still take the next step.

And the more you learn to trust your intuition, your inner guidance and inner knowing, the more you can begin to trust yourself and your decisions.

Confidence doesn’t mean knowing that everything is going to work out exactly as planned. It means trusting yourself enough to know that you can handle what happens.

So ask yourself: Are you waiting to feel ready?

Maybe you’ve been telling yourself:

“I’ll do it when I’m ready.”

“I’ll speak up when I feel more confident.”

“I’ll start the business when I feel more certain.”

“I’ll make the change when I know it’s the right time.”

But here’s the problem: If you wait for confidence before taking action, you may stay stuck waiting. Often, confidence comes after you begin.

Every time you take an action, try something new, speak up, make a decision, or move forward despite your fear, you’re building evidence that you can trust yourself.

You don’t need to feel completely ready to take the next step. Sometimes taking the next step is exactly what helps you become ready, and more confident.
