Let’s talk about self-trust, because self-trust is the foundation of confidence.
Confidence isn’t only about believing you’re capable. It’s also about developing a relationship with yourself where you learn to listen to yourself, trust yourself, and believe in your ability to make empowered choices.
One of the first steps is becoming aware of your inner dialogue. Start noticing those automatic subconscious thoughts that may be sabotaging you: “I’m not good enough.” “I can’t do this.” “What if I make the wrong decision?”
When you become conscious of those thoughts, you have the opportunity to challenge and change them rather than allowing them to make your decisions for you.
Self-trust also grows when you honor your needs and wants, make conscious decisions, and learn to recover when things don’t go as planned. That ability to recover is resilience, and every time you move through a challenge, you strengthen your trust in yourself.
The more you listen to yourself and make empowered, conscious choices instead of reacting from old subconscious patterns, the more you build self-trust.
And the more you trust yourself, the more confident you become.
